Family Background

 

This was the home of Captain William Boren Heard (1815-1892), born in Georgia and a Confederate veteran, who began building the house in 1873.  Per the 1880 US Census, the Captain was then a merchant who lived in the home his wife, Martha Forrester Heard, and children, Emma, Will, J.S., Anna Eliza, and Robert Lee.
