This beauty sits on 1.22 acres and is located in the Warrenton Historic District.

History

Many of the earlier homes in Warrenton were built in the Italianate/Greek Revival style and documented as the work of Jacob Holt. Our featured home today seems to be less pretentious with simpler corner posts and porches as well as simpler interior elements. The main difference from earlier Warrenton dwellings seem to be the false front central gable. It is hard to see it behind the trees, but the small gable is over the middle second floor window as is known as the “triple-A.” The National Register of Historic Places calls the house a “small antebellum home.”

Family History

This home is said to have been built in 1850 and is known as the Henry Harper House. Sometime before 1876, the house was sold to John Miller Waddell (d.1912), a captain in the Confederate Army, a successful merchant and bank cashier, who made “improvements” to the residence. He lived here with his wife Rosa Gregory Waddell, a member of an aristocratic family, and their five daughters and one son.

This is an interesting home and I’d be interested of some further pics or a video tour that includes more detail and if there is a basement, attic and out building. Thx

I may be crazy, but when they say fixer upper or needs some work, I wish the photos would show what needs fixing. I also wish kitchen photos were included.
