Under $100K Sunday – c.1900 Fixer Upper in Middletown IN Under $100K ~ Off Market

189 N 5th St, Middletown, IN 47356.    $99,900 Off Market

OHU50K NOTES

The first floor of this c.1900 fixer upper is in pretty good shape. Stained glass, 10-foot ceilings, curved walls, pocket doors, lovely molding and fireplace look good, although it appears they painted some of the hardwood floors brown. The exterior, and especially the top floors, need work. What is going on with the roof gables?

Family History

Charles C. Wilhoit (1875-1950), an auto garage owner, and his wife Louise Wisehart “Lulu” Wilhoit (1874-1956) owned the home, which was worth $8,000 in 1930. In the 1920s, they lived here with their children Catherine, Charles, Mary and Willis. In the 1930s, with Catherine and Charles out of the house, the couple shared the home with son Willis,  daughter Mary, and her husband Russell J. Stinson, a radio salesman.
The Wilhoit family is buried in the Miller Cemetery in Middletown
