Under $100k Sunday – c.1920 House To Be Moved Pacific MO $89K – Update: Demolished
October 10, 2021
222 N 1st St, Pacific, MO, 63069 $89,000
Update: A reader lives across the street and tells me that this house was torn down three weeks ago. When she first moved across the street, #222 was owned by a lovely couple who took good care of it. It subsequently passed through several owners and gradually fell into disrepair. Sadly, another one bites the dust. With an $89K price tag for a house that had to be moved, we should have expected this outcome. Greed.
OHU50K NOTES
House only! Not the land the house sits on. Home needs to be moved, either off the lot completely, or to the South East corner of the lot at buyer’s expense.
Given the cost of relocating a house, I find it incredulous that 10,000 buildings are moved every year. What is more incredulous, is an $89,000 price tag for a house that needs to be moved. I recently read an article that financing a house move can be extremely challenging, and cash is usually the way a buyer has to go. Of course, there are environmental and historic preservation advantages in moving a house, but in my mind, the house itself should be free or at a very nominal token fee.

I live across the street and this house was torn down two weeks ago. Such a shame to see that history bulldozed. When we moved here, it was owned by a lovely couple who took good care of it. It has passed through several owners since and gradually fell into disrepair.

Demolished?! Oh that makes me so sick! I too think asking that type of money to buy it and pay as much to move it is crazy! Such a beautiful home. The owner must have been insane.
