Family History

This was the home of Emmett Ryerson (1894-1933) and Grace Ryerson  (1890-1974) in the 1920s through the 1940s. Emmett was born in Minnesota and moved to Montana to become an automobile salesman. Grace was a high school teacher originally from Wisconsin. The couple married in 1918 and lived here with their son Donald. In 1930, the home was valued at $15,000. The couple was doing quite well, and even had a housekeeper.

After Emmett passed away in 1939, however, tings became tough for Grace. She then ran the two bedroom, one bathroom house as a boarding house, and in 1940, Grace, Donald, and seven renters were living in the home.
