History
Parrott, a small town in the southwest corner of the state, has a population of 158 residents. It takes its name from the pioneer citizens James and John Parrott. Joanna Moore, actress and mother of Tatum O’Neal, was from Parrott.
When the 1971 article below was written, Parrott had about 300 residents, a filling station, cotton gin, grocery store and five antique shops. Today it has half the number of residents, a convenience store/gas station and one antique shop.
