Family History

Mr. and Mrs. Robert A. Probst owned this home in the 1950s and 1960s. Mrs. Probst enjoyed hosting dinners at her home facting as president of the YMCA Board of Directors and as a member of the Warren County Dental Society.

In the late 1960s a section of the home served as The Treehouse, an antiques and gifts shop. Later the home became a B&B.

Town

Warren (pop. 38,587) was founded in 1795 and named after General Joseph Warren, who was killed in the Battle of Bunker Hill. Warren is known as  a gateway to the Allegheny National Forest. In 1861, the discovery of oil in the area led to great wealth with the city laying claim to once having more millionaires per capita than any other town in Pennsylvania. Today, city has a busting historic district. Nearby, the Allegheny Reservoir attracts many visitors who enjoy swimming, boating, fishing, and water-skiing.
