Agent Comments
Great location for this corner lot property running from W. King Street up to the upper Green Street. Wooded lot. This two story family home has a lot of potential. Enjoy the time of the day sitting on the front covered porch. The first level has a formal dining, living room and full bathroom. There is an additional room that is currently used as the family room but can easily be a nice size first level bedroom. Off of the kitchen is a walk in pantry that also leads to the partial basement and the rear access to the second level. The original hardwood is still in tack throughout the home, some sanding or refurbishing will bring the elegance back out of the woodwork. Open front stairway. Three large bedrooms / full bathroom on the second level.
- 4 bed
- 2 bath
- 1,958 sqft
- 0.39 acre lot
- Build date 1900
Town History
The unfortunate name of the town comes from the De Smeths, a Dutch banking family who financed the land investors who founded the town in 1807. The climate of Smethport can be added to the series of unfortunate events of the town, too, as the community (pop.1,430) gets the honor of having the coldest temperature ever recorded in Pennsylvania, and is, in fact, the coldest place in Pennsylvania and one of the coldest towns in the contiguous United States.
The area is a great place for outdoor enthusiasts, however, as Smethport is located in the Pennsylvania Wilds in a hilly area in close proximity to Allegheny National Forest and Kinzua Bridge State Park.
