Family History
Walter Funk was the original owner of this home. He lived here with his wife Florence McCullough Funk, her sister and a servant. Sadly, Florence passed away at the age of 39 in the home in 1912. Walter continued to live in the home until the 1930s, having married Ethel Rohlfing, a woman 20 years his junior. They raised two sons here, James and Walter Junior. Walter Senior was superintendant of a life insurance company as well as a clerk in Saint Louis Ward 6.
