If you are like me, this old stone house for sale in France gets your heart beating faster. The romantic setting, stone walls, beams, updated kitchen, are simply wonderful. The staircase looks a bit treacherous, and the fly strip is off-putting, but we can make concessions for such a wonderful old home.

When I saw the fly strip, it reminded me of my husband. We owned a 15-acre hobby farm in Cobleskill, NY, that had both flies and bats. (One has to expect such things living next to a dairy farm – the flies at least.) A fly strip hung in the dining room, and one morning my husband found a baby bat stuck to it. The bat was going crazy, biting its wings attempting to get free. My husband, the consummate nature lover, grabbed his worked gloves and gently rubbed kerosene on the bat’s wings in hopes of removing the sticky glue. Well, that only made the bat more frantic. Hubbie then retrieved my pricey Pantene shampoo and conditioner, not the cheap Suave stuff mind you, and commenced to shampoo and condition the bat’s wings. In true beauty salon mode, he then gave the bat a blow dry. It did the trick.
