Queen Anne Victorian

Under $100K Sunday – Queen Anne Victorian – Albion Michigan Under $100K ~ Sold

802 N Superior St, Albion, MI, 49224     $99,900 ~ Contingent ~ Sold for $86,000 on 1/07/2021

The realtor’s build date of 1854 for this lovely Queen Anne Victorian seems a bit too early. Located in Albion, the area was not incorporated as a village until 1855, and as a city in 1885. Plus, the Queen Anne style saw popularity between 1880 and 1910. The home sits on N. Superior Street, just a short walk to the Superior Street Commercial District where you will find a red clay brick roadway lined with mostly two- to three-story commercial buildings, most of them Italianates.
Although I cannot find any definitive proof, I would guess that our featured home today was originally built for one of the successful businessmen of the commercial district.

Town History

The first European-American settler was Tenney Peabody who gave the task of naming the community to his wife. She considered Peabodyville, but ultimately decided on Albion after the name of the former residence of the settlement’s first US postmaster. The closure of a major factory in 1975 saw the beginning of the city’s decline of jobs and population, but since then several organizations have been founded in the hopes of re-establishing a thriving community.

This stunning Queen Anne Victorian sits in the heart of Albion, walking distance to downtown to enjoy all the local cuisine. As you enter the home through the main door you will see the grand foyer with all the original woodwork and wood burning fireplace. Large open concept kitchen, dining and living room. With the original wood trim and crown molding it truly sets this home apart along with 5 bedrooms.
There are new windows on the main level and the roof was replaced in 2018. Don’t worry about the heating bill. This house has a wood burner and gas furnace combination. In the basement there is an option to make an attached garage with the current layout, as an extra bonus with a walk out. Included in this Michigan basement is a full bathroom for easy access to the back yard, where there is plenty of parking. Lovely home, needs a little TLC however it is move in ready. Cash or Conventional financing only-Home being sold as-is.
