OHU50K NOTES
Save this old house. If you think this fixer upper is filled with stuff now, you should have seen it when it was on the market in 2019.
Built in 1860, this brick Italianate is known as the Thornhill House. George Duke Thornhill (1827-1894) was born in Pittsburgh and came to Xenia in the 1860s. He and his business partner were carpenters/ building contractors/mill owners under the name of Drees & Thornhill. George built his home on Spring Hill just outside Xenia city limits, and lived here with his wife Gertrude Thienes and children George, John, Mary Emma, Frank, Charles, Gertrude, Albert, William and Joseph, and servant Mary Holms.
The Civil War era home still has much of its original details intact.
