Under $100K Sunday – Updated TN Move-In Ready Victorian Cottage Under $98K ~ Off Market
912 W Ash St, LaFollette, TN, 37766 $97,500 ~ Pending ~ Off Market
OHU50K NOTES
This sweet move-in ready Victorian cottage was built in 1902 in LaFollette, TN (pop. 7,456). Except for the garage addition and aluminum siding, the exterior’s turn of the century vibe shines through. The interior has had several alterations, but the gorgeous fireplace, some hardwood floors, hardware, doors and trim are still intact. Buyers can look forward to relaxing on the porch swing to enjoy the mountain views.
Town History
Brothers Harvey and Grant LaFollette purchased 37,000 acres at Big Creek Gap, land where the present community sits, around 1890. There they discovered mineral resources, and so founded the LaFollette Coal, Iron, and Railway Company. While the business didn’t make it through the Great Depression, the city continued to grow.
Some confusion exists as to the spelling of LaFollette. Although some government agencies spell it with two words, the city is officially named after the brothers who spelled LaFollette as one word.
