OHU50K NOTES

Known as the Douglas Home, this was the residence of William  S. Douglas (1869-1938) and his wife Mary Cordelia Clark Douglas (187-1959). William was a real estate agent. I thought I had a lot of children (7), but William and Mary lived in this home from the early 1900s to the mid 1920s with their 10 children, Willie, James, Janie, Marie, Margarite, Hal, Robert, Clark, Neal, and Martha. It is likely the home originally had more than a quarter acre lot, but it is now surrounded by a residential area of homes built between the 1940s to the 1970s. It is heartwarming to imagine the 10 children running and playing around the yard while Mr. and Mrs. Douglas oversaw their large brood while rocking on the open front porch. Not so heartwarming to think, though, that with 10 children, the house did not have indoor bathrooms until 1910.

REALTOR COMMENTS

Fixer upper. Beautiful historical Douglas Home that was built in 1859. Bathrooms added in 1910. Home now has a metal roof. 3 bedrooms and 1 full bath upstairs. Downstairs has large parlor w/hardwood floors, laundry room & dining room. Almost every room has mantels on the fireplace. So much charm and ready for you to restore it back to its original glory.
