OHU50K NOTES

Built in 1867, this brick handyman special knew Tiskilwa, Illinois (pop 864), in its glory days as a self-sufficient community. In 1867, the town’s epicenter consisted of three blocks of Main Street around which was situated its grocery stores, cafes, taverns, barbershops, beauty parlors and churches. It is said that Tiskilwa’s residents would travel out of town as a novelty rather than a necessity. Today, traveling to Tiskilwa’s Main Street is a novelty, not a necessity. The high school was deactivated, its football field lies empty, a church now houses the historical museum, and businesses are few.
Still, the town has a nostalgic appeal with brick buildings and a village green. In fact, our featured home today sits opposite the green.

Across from the park and backed by woods, this incredible handyman special home offers both the privacy of a perfect location and a great deal! Gorgeous screened porch allows for outdoor time without the drawbacks and the fabulous floor plan includes a full bathroom and bedroom on the first floor as well as 3 more bedrooms and a second full bath on the second floor.
Incredible historic marble fireplace surrounds in not 1, 2, or 3 but actually 4 different rooms! Home has been in the same family for the last 61 years and includes a newer furnace, water heater, central air and appliances. Main floor laundry for convenience and a walk up attic could be finished for more space but it’s also great storage as is.
Attached garage, incredible dentil molding outside and some of the best colonial revival interior trim work ever! Although some work would be welcomed, this home is completely livable and updates could be done over time if desired.
