Under $75K Thursday ~ c.1879 Fixer Upper Italianate in Urbanan OH $65K ~ Sold
237 W Court St, Urbana, OH 43078 $65,000 Sold for $60,000
OHU50K NOTES
This c.1878 fixer upper Italianate has a significant amount of original features to make this a worthwhile project for a restoration enthusiast. Part of restoration costs will have to include a second bathroom. One bath for six bedrooms is hardly viable. A carriage sits in the back where one might live while restoring the main home.
Champaign County decided to build a new courthouse in Urbana in 1837 at the corner of North Main Street and East Court Street, which is still the present site of the most recent courthouse. The 1837 two-story brick structure was remodeled in 1880 after it was deemed to be dangerous, and the new remodel was considered to be fireproof. This was proved to be wrong in January of 1948, when a fire completely destroyed the building and all the historical records contained in it.
I had luck on ancestry.com discovering the history of another Urbana residence OHU50K featured this week, but this fixer upper Italianate eluded me. If anyone has any historical information on this house, please let me know.

REALTOR COMMENTS
Stately fixer upper Italianate home requires significant renovation; however, it will be gorgeous when restored. You’ll find hardwood floors, natural woodwork, ornate fireplaces, and large rooms throughout. Currently has six bedrooms and one full bathroom. What once was the carriage house at the back of the property was most recently used as an efficiency apartment that rented for $350/month. With your vision, this property can be the showplace it once was.
