This church for sale in Gloster, MS, is one of 6,000 to 10,000 churches annually that shut their doors across the US. I believe the realtor is in error regarding the name of the church. According to the photos below, this was the Hoyte Memorial Presbyterian Church, established in 1887. Charter families were Williams, Toler, Johns, Causey and Barneys. The church was named for Reverend Dr. Hoyte. In April of 1935, the original wood frame church was destroyed by a tornado, and in November of the same year, the brick church was erected.
Located in Downtown Gloster, this church for sale was originally the Thompson Memorial Presbyterian Church. It has a great history dating back to 1887. The current owner has converted the 3, 559. sq ft property into a 2 bedroom (each being 20X20 sq foot) and 1.5 bath, dining and living area. This property has plenty of potential. The former sanctuary has been converted into a dining and living area. This property can be a home, studio apartment, community center, meeting hall or could easily be converted back to a church. Do you love to entertain? The outside patio and deck are just the spot. The semi fenced in yard even has a shed for storage. The possibilities are limitless.. Yes, This property is within walking distance to the grocery store and other downtown businesses. Granted, this property is unique and would love to have an owner with a unique vision. Oh, and by the way, the church bell still works.
