Under $75K Thursday ~ c.1896 New Hampshire Fixer Upper $60K ~ Off Market
10 Pine St, Woodsville, NH 03785 $60,000 Off Market
OHU50K NOTES
We don’t often find homes in New Hampshire at this price point, but here is a c.1896 fixer upper on a street of older homes with a view of a white church steeple and forested hills beyond. How New England can you get?
House History
I think the house numbers might have been changed since 1920, but according to that year’s US Census, I believe James Gallagher, a switchman for the railroad, lived here with his wife Margaret, who was 10 year his senior. Both of their parents immigrated from Ireland to Canada, and James and Margaret then immigrated to the US around 1870. Their two unmarried adult children also lived with them in this house: daughter Mary, and son Edward, a brakeman for the railroad.
Woodsville
Woodsville (pop. 1,126) is situated along the Connecticut River at the mouth of the Ammonoosuc River. The town was named after John L. Woods who came from Vermont and purchased a sawmill in Woodsville in 1829.
Some trivia: In The Stand, a novel by Stephen King, Woodsville is mentioned as the home of the major character in the book, an associate professor of sociology at the fictional Woodsville Community College when the superflu hit. Doesn’t sound like a book I want to read right now.

REALTOR COMMENTS
Located within the village of Woodsville, a fixer upper with so much potential! Hardwood floors & an attached 2 car garage. Lots of storage space available. While there are still some improvements that could be done we’ve priced this one to sell ‘AS IS’. A great location for the outdoor enthusiast, with mountains and lakes close by.
