OHU50K NOTES
This fixer upper is a Queen Anne cottage design by George F. Barber. What a rare find! The home needs plenty of work but has kept its original theme and historical attributes. Located in the lovely, low-crime Historic District of Trenton, the fixer upper is in walking distance to the beautiful downtown area.
George Franklin Barber (1854-1915) was an American architect well known primarily for his residential designs, which he sold worldwide through mail-order catalogs. His plans were used for houses in all 50 states, and internationally as well.
Barber started designing his houses in his hometown of DeKalb, Illinois, in the late 1880s, before permanently moving his company to Knoxville, Tennessee, in 1888. He loved the Queen Anne style, in which our featured house today is counted.
Although the realtor states the build date as 1919, when the home was on the market in 2017, the build date was listed as 1905.
