Family History
In June of 1946, Michael Simon married Alfreda Staub, and the young couple came home to this house. Actually, Michael’s birth name was Michael John Simon Alukonis. Per his draft records he was 5’7″ with a ruddy complexion and brown hair and brown eyes. His father Stanley Alukonis came to the states from Lithuania and was the owner of this house, along with his wife Veronica. They lived here with their children JOhn, Charles and Jean. Stanley was a professor and was organist for his church for 27 years. Sadly, he passed away a couple of months before his son married. Why Stanley’s son, John Alukonis, changed his name to Michael Simon may never be known. In any event, it appears Michael/John made his living as a barber in his own shop.
