Family History
Elmer Fankhauser and his wife Mary Criss Fankhauser had this house built sometime before 1919. Elmer was a draftsman for the Carnegie Steel Company and his wife was an accomplished musician who gave music lessons from the home.
After Dr. David Duff Scott and Winifred Lewis married in 1922, they moved into this home. Apparently Mary Fankhauser and Winifred Scott were acquainted through their love of music. That relationship facilitated the rental of the house to the Scotts for $50 per month. Dr. Scott specialized in drug therapy and Winifred was a music teacher. She often held music recitals in the home. Neither couple had any children.
