Greenwich is in my old neck of the woods, and I can say unequivocally that it is a charming town and a wonderful place to live. Our featured home sits in farmland in Stathems Neck outside of Ye Greate Street, the Main Street of tGreenwich, where visitors often start their walking tour of the historic old homes. For boaters, two marinas offer water access to the Cohansey River and further on to the Delaware River.

Located on Stathems Neck Road, this was likely the home of the original settlers of the neck, the Stathem family. The Stathem family was of English ancestry who came to the states some time around 1700. Hannah Mills married Thomas Stathem around 1750 and the family may have bought land and built their farmhouse in the Greenwich area, the town in which Hannah was born in 1733. Despite the realtor’s build date for this house as 1720, I believe the Stathem House have been this house on Stathems Neck Road. The year 1720 build date seems a bit too early for this area anyway as Greenwich was first formed in 1748.
