OHU50K NOTES

This cabin is located in Hardman, Oregon, a ghost town that sits on a 3,600-foot elevation plateau slightly west of the Blue Mountains. In the late 1800s, newspaper advertisements touted the qualities of Hardman to attract settlers, and it became a farming and social center for the surrounding  farm communities. Hardman became a ghost town, however, following the completion of a railroad to the nearby town Heppner in the 1920s. The main surviving commercial building, the Hardman IOOF Lodge Hall, was added to the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) in 2012.
