OHU50K NOTES

Save this old house. Built in 1898, this home is a 2-story brick home with front-gabled roof, segmented arched windows, bracketed cornice and classical door surround. It is located in Talladega’s Silk Stocking Historic District, the finest remaining collection of upper and middle class home built in Talladega between 1875 and 1917. Most of the brick homes constructed in the late 19th century in the district were built by Lyman Clardy, owner of the local brick yard, so it is highly likely he built today’s featured home.
