Family History
From the 1930s through the 1950s, the Deaton family owned this home. George and Lillian Deaton resided here with their large brood, Robert, Marjorie, Ralph, Eleanor, Dorothy, Carolyn and George. George Sr. supported the family as a contractor with his own business while Lillian, a great cook, spent most of her time in the kitchen. The same cupboards and sink Lillian used are still in the house today. Below is a recipe she shared in a July 1953 issue of the local Clifton Forge newspaper.
