Family History

In 1917, the owner of the home, Mrs. Cotton, called the fire department apparently while having a mishap making dinner. No damage, thank goodness.  Some years later, Rupert and Belle Storm purchased the home. Belle was eight years older than her husband, and the couple had no children. Rupert was a high school graduate who made his living as a merchant for a grocery store. Belle completed three years of college and was a homemaker and member of one of McComb’s pioneer families.

According to the US.S. Census, in 1940, Rupert made $1,500 a year, and their home was valued at $2,250, the equivalent of  $46,000 today.

I thought the same thing but it’s framing where the ceiling is, oh, just gone🤪 but I’d put one in if it was mine. I’d do away with that 1970’s kitchen and put that gorgeous “kitchen”, in that back room, back in working order…I can’t resist a farm house sink and simple hand built cabinetry💖
