Family History

This home was actually built a few years before 1920 for Dr. Thomas Simpson Fleming (1887-1984) and his family which consisted of his wife Eileen Trimble Fleming (1888-1981) and their daughter Shirley (1908-2006). He graduated from Saint Louis University Medical School.  The good doctor served with the 65th Artillery Company as physician during WWI in France after which he received a citation for attending his men under fire, and was gassed and hospitalized. Back from the war, Dr. Fleming became an attending physician at Woodland Hospital. He retired in 1970 after 57 years of service. The Flemings lived in this home for more than six decades.

The Flemings must be rolling in their graves to see their home is such condition now.
