Family History
From the early 1900s to the 1940s, this was the home of the Sullivan family. Daniel Sullivan (1873-1948) was born in Ireland and came to America in 1893. He married Ellen Diffley (1875-1942) in 1898. Daniel made his living as a general contractor, and it appears he built the retaining wall in the backyard in 1939. Daniel and Ellen lived in the home with their large family including children, Mary, Michael, Margaret Nellie, Julian, Daniel and Eugene (who both died in infancy) and a second Daniel (who died at age 4), as well as a boarder. The Sullivans owned the house free and clear.
