1960 Carousel Spartan Trailer For Sale By Owner Reduced to $175K – Mid-Century Modern Time Capsule

This MCM Spartan trailer for sale should be in a museum. That Kitchen with curved counter and Sputnik light fixtures has the WOW factor. Although, this Spartan is a Mid-Century Modern time capsule to drool over, the reduced price tag of $175K is still too rich for my blood.  (And the original price was $233K!) Oh well, it is fun to window shop.

The Spartan trailer was made by Spartan Aircrafts Company. In the late 1930s, the company was acquired by billionaire, J. Paul Getty. After WWII the huge housing demand led Getty to start manufacturing trailers in 1945. Spartan spared no expense, but at the time with a new Levittown house starting at $8,000, $4,000 for a trailer seemed pricey. The year 1962 marked the end of production.

The Holy Grail of Spartans.This Mid-Century Modern one bedroom Home measures 10×50 feet, and retains most of its original fixtures. Including the iconic circular kitchen complete with the Skylight and Sputnik light fixture. The original table, chairs and bar stools are included. All new Plumbing, wiring, birch paneling, wood flooring and insulation have been installed. It has a new breaker box and in on demand water heater. We have included two new 12,000 BTU mini splits still in the boxes. Located in NC.
