The handyman special, brick Tudor Revival is in the Shadowlawn neighborhood of Memphis. William C. Chandler (1885-1962), developed Chandler’s Shadowlawn Subdivision in 1924, containing 160 lots. He built houses targeted for the middle class in phases over time from 1924 to about 1942. The brick bungalows and English cottages had certain stock plans in common, but the exteriors are not identical. Each home was constructed with individual detailing, including differences in gable treatments, window sash configuration, porch posts, door style, etc.
