• City services despite the small population. Anthony has basic municipal services, schools, a hospital/medical services, grocery shopping, restaurants, and other necessities—important advantages over an extremely tiny rural settlement.
• Local hospital. Harper County Community Hospital provides a level of local healthcare that many towns of this size don’t have.
• Good schools for a small community. Anthony is served by USD 361, and the local school system provides K–12 education without requiring children to commute to a distant city.
• Low traffic and easy parking. Getting around town is simple.
• Friendly climate for people who like four seasons. Winters aren’t as severe as the northern Midwest, while summers are warm/hot.
• Close to Oklahoma. Oklahoma is only a short drive away, expanding shopping, recreation, and employment possibilities.
• Wichita is within driving distance. Wichita is roughly 1½ hours away, giving you access to major shopping, specialized healthcare, an airport, restaurants, sports, and entertainment.

• Small population. There simply aren’t enough residents to support extensive restaurants, shopping, entertainment, or specialized services.
• Car dependent. Public transportation is minimal, and you’ll want a reliable vehicle.
• Healthcare is limited. Having a local hospital is a major positive, but specialized care will generally mean driving to Wichita or another regional center.
• Very rural surroundings. If you want coffee shops, nightlife, cultural events, or lots of social opportunities, Anthony may feel isolated.
• Population growth is weak. Like many rural Great Plains communities, Anthony has faced long-term population pressures.
