In the early 1900s, the Goodyear brothers, had been successful New York and Pennsylvania lumbermen, purchased hundreds of thousands of acres of virgin pine forests in southeastern Louisiana for the timber. They constructed the first sawmill in what became Bogalusa, and a company was built to support the mill. At the time, it was the largest sawmill in the world, and the Great Southern Lumber Company built many dwellings to house workers and supervisors, and associated infrastructure. This house appears to be one of those homes.
