House History
In the 1930s and 1940s, this was the home of Dennie Steele and his wife Velma. They shared the home with their daughters Lois and Helene Marie. Dennie was proprietor of a gasoline filling station.
Town History
Junction City is named from its position at the confluence of the Smoky Hill and Republican rivers. Interesting story: In 1854, Andrew J. Mead from New York City of the Cincinnati-Manhattan Company, Free Staters connected to the Massachusetts Emigrant Aid Company planned a community in this part of Kansas called Manhattan. The steamship delivering the immigrants, however, could not reach the town because of low water on the Kansas River. Thus, the Free Staters settled 20 miles east of what later became Junction City and named that community Manhattan. It was later was renamed Millard City.

House has obviously sat empty for a long time. It is a bit over priced in my opinion.
