This abandoned homestead (by abandoned I mean vacant for years and neglected) was once someone’s promise of a better life. Apparently, they made a go of it for several years as they built a number of outbuildings in addition to the house. The structures sit on 3.75 acres and has views of flatlands, sagebrush , native grasses, and the mesas of the Petrified Forest National Park. The owner has even found bits of petrified wood on the property.
The seller originally had the property listed for $16,000, but recently reduced it on Facebook Marketplace to $9,6,00.

3.75 acres with 4 old homestead structures in Sun Valley, AZ only 2.5 miles to Interstate 40, about 10 minutes E of Holbrook and 3.5 hours NE of Phoenix. There was petrified wood in front of the house and its about 20 minutes to the Petrified Forest National Park! All of the photos were taken of the properties in August 2021 & April 2022 of the lots and their surrounding views. Shooting Star road is an overgrown bladed dirt road along the north. Take Sunset Road off Sun Valley Road to S 16th Street which runs at the end of the block to the west. Lot #22 that adjoins the old homes kitty corner sits on Stampede Rood, an overgrown bladed road along the south of lot #22. You can see these roads in the map section.

I am keeping these 3 lots together. I thought the single lot that adjoins kitty corner with be a great spot to fence off for animals. The road to it has yet to be bladed and there’s no neighbors around but there is an easement to it as seen in the maps. There are 2 lots that have 4 very old structures on them. I thought they were very interesting, chimneys and old power lights….I wonder just how old they really are. Wow, this is really interesting. Not my cup of tea; this introvert needs people (occasionally) and entertainment, but it’s definitely perfect for someone. Possibly a gardener, an artist, or a writer. I wonder what the internet access is like? It’s a specialty property because you’d have to have the temperment for that landscape. Someone who looks at it and doesn’t think “barren” but instead thinks “spare”, or “elegant” or “magestic.” Someone who can close his/her eyes and imagine the thunderous hoofbeats of wild horses or buffalo from centuries past.
