More HGTV grey. I think people watch the shows, figure, “I can do that!”, buy a place, realize they can’t, as they don’t have the budgets of TV shows, and give up, putting them back on the market, usually much higher than they get the place for in the first place.

Yep. Especially when the walls are painted in a semi-gloss. Maybe it would be a good idea to have a state foundation that provides an architectural historian to provide some guidance on what hundred-year-old houses should look like.
