Family History
This home was built by John McKinnon Gunn (1822-18883) for his new bride, Sarah Douglass (1833-1904). John was a merchant, and the couple lived in the home for decades with their children, Eugene (who died at age 5), Eugenia (who was born a year after Eugene’s death0, Gertrude and John. The home was later owned by the Brown Family.
To see what the home looked like in in 2018 as James Webb was restoring it, look here. A wonderful excerpt by John Gunn’s descendant is included, too. Such a shame what happened to the home in a few short years.
