OHU50K NOTES
Thanks to OHU50K reader Robert who submitted this beautiful home! It is priced more than $50K, but it is a stunner that will likely be off the market before our next Under $75K Thursday rolls around. I always wanted a home with front and rear staircases.
Family History
In the 1910s until 1953, this was the home of Israel Quincy Huston (1842-1931) and his wife Nora Russell Huston (1860-1953). Before he retired, Israel was a leading farm implements dealer. The couple married in 1890 and had three daughters, Elizabeth, Virginia and Susannah. Israel made a good living, and the family had a live-in servant girl.
Except for an infant son and adult daughter Virginia, the Huston family members lived long, prosperous lives. Israel was 88, daughter Elizabeth 100, and Susannah 85. Nora died in this home at the age of 94.
