Family History

This was the home of Joseph O’Brien (1876-1923) and his wife Dora Hynes O’Brien (1874-1946). The couple married in 1899 and purchased this home where they raised their five daughters, Mary Margaret, Dorothy, Catherine, Frances and Helen. Mr. O’Brien was the owner of a grocery store in town. Dora ‘Brien was active in many civic affairs, including the Red Cross and the Clean Blocks organization. In fact, she oversaw her street which won the clean award in 1913.
