Save This Old c.1886 Tudor Revival – Pennsylvania Fixer Upper For Sale $50K
$50,000
Save this old Pennsylvania fixer upper. The six bedroom, one-bath Tudor Revival is perched on a hill with a view of the forested hills in the distance. It is a great looking home with many original elements inside, but it does need a load of work. You will be especially enamored, however, with the rich, dark, unpainted woodwork, fireplaces, built-ins and hardwood floors.
OHU50K first featured this home back in October 2020 when it was listed at $45,000. It was subsequently reduced to $20,000, did not sell, then taken off market. It was relisted for $35,000, and was sold for $26,300 in Febrauary 2022. The home has not had any work done, and is now back on the market for $50,000.

History
I believe the build date for this home may be off by a couple of years, because the sale of lots did not begin in Wilmerding until June of 1889. George Westinghouse located his Westinghouse Air Brake Company in Wilmerding around 1890. Most of the head of households on this block worked for the air brake company, including the resident of this home, Edmund Caye (1866-1929). He was a foreman in the machine shop. In fact, if you look at the Google Street Map link above, you will seea row of factory worker homes built by the Westinghouse Air Brake Home Building Company in 1919.
Edmund’s family needed a bigger house with six bedrooms. He and his wife Hannah, aka Ella ( 1868-1926) lived in the home from about 1905 until 1929 with their children, Edna, William, Lillian, Mildred, Gertrude, Ruth and Melva. When a few of the kids moved out, lodgers took their place.
