This one is a winner! A winner in Winchester, a small town of about 1,500 residents in western Illinois. The home is located in the Winchester Historic District, a peaceful area of some lovely architectural gems. Our featured property was the home of Milo Smith (1899-1954) and his wife Alta Gregory Smith (1904-1985). The couple was married in 1923, but never had any children. Milo was a trucker for a transportion company and they rented out a room to a lodger who worked for the same company. After Milo’s passing in 1954, Alta continued to live in the house alone until her death in 1985. Both Milo and Alta are buried in the Winchester City Cemetery.
