Wow, an old house with closets! My old American Foursquare had two closets in the whole house, and one of them was just a nook under the staircase.

This. c.1905 fixer upper is located in Edinburg, Illinois, a farming community of about 1,100 residents. The property is situated next door to a beautiful old United Methodist Church and is just around the corner from the school and park. Wrap-around porch, tiled fireplace, built-ins, wainscoting, hardwood floors and beautiful molding grace the home. It’s a shame they painted the woodwork, but at least the newel post and banister have been spared.

We just missed Edinburg’s annual Labor Day Picnic and Parade which the town has put on since 1945. Emphasizing the rural and agricultural history of the area, activities include tractor pulls, demolition derbies, chili cook-offs, live music, rides, games, tournaments and of course a parade. Crime is practically non-existent in Edinburg, free senior citizen dinners are offered on occasion, and village clean up days have volunteers using pickup trucks assisting residents with bulk trash. Sounds like a welcoming place to live.
