Family History

After numerous members of the Roth family came to Belleville from Germany before the turn of the century, at least three or four Roth families purchased homes on Lebanon Avenue. If you view the Google Street Map, you can see a string of German Row homes that some of the original Rath immigrants owned. John Roth (1885 – 1952), however, a second generation German-American, owned this Craftsman bungalow from the 1920s until his death in 1952. He was a hardworking iron molder at the Luzerne foundry and member of Local 182, Iron Molders Union. He lived here with his wife Laura Chatlain Roth, children Hans and Doris, and brother Charles Roth, a barber.
