Abandoned House
OHU50K NOTES
Number 326 Hulett Street makes me sad. I see the worn yet beautiful exterior details, the pretty lace-trimmed shelves in the foyer and the vintage photograph of a former resident lonely sitting on the shelf, and I know this once was a much-loved home. The c.1910 Victorian was likely the proud home of a blue collar family in the Hamilton Hill and Vale neighborhood of Schenectady who put extra money into the decorative details, including imbricated shingles, bay windows and double front doors with pretty overhang. Today the property sits abandoned by its latest owners and is being sold by the City of Schenectady. Hamilton Hill is one of the poorest neighborhoods in the city, but ambitious revitalization efforts in the neighborhood are already in phase tow. I am always astonished that these city-owned homes sell, given their condition, crime stats and city requirements, but they do sell.

Mold included with purchase. Seems like $10,000 is not the price because description talks about placing an offer. I never seen snow inside of a house. Their cans of food is included and I see they loved to read many books. House looks big from the side.

Now I’m not too fond of the area but if I bought this house and sold it don’t call me a flipper it would just be to save this beautiful place great bones once it’s cleaned up and restored

I don’t like the flipper term either. If a house is getting renovated, improving the neighborhood, I’m good with that. Just as long as the original elements are kept intact as much as possible.
