Moving a caboose requires hiring a specialized transport company experienced in handling oversized and heavy equipment. Typically, a crane lifts the caboose onto a heavy-duty trailer, which is then used to haul it to the new site. Upon arrival, the caboose is unloaded using similar equipment. It’s often necessary to get the destination site ready in advance, which may include grading the ground or installing new track sections.

I am interested in the caboose, potentially to be placed on property at Neshkoro, Wisconsin on the site of a spur line once owned by the Chiocago & Northwestern Railroad. Is the caboose heated in any way? I would have to hire a friend to implement the interior to make it acceptable for occasional guests and would have to have the car moved as well as to install infrastructure to support the caboose, i.e. some track + concrete or other platform. Thanks in advance for any response. Bill
