OHU50K NOTES
For some reason my middle son has talked about buying a cheap home in Trona for a couple of years now, so that “Trona” has become a byword in our family for a bad idea. So while browsing Amazon Prime videos not long ago, we came across the 2005 comedy film Trona, and had to watch it. If you view the film, you will get a better understanding of why this edge of the earth is so cheap. In Trona’s defense, a community group was attempting to clean up the town, but the 2019 earthquake put a damper on the project. As old houses under $50k in California are like finding a needle in a haystack, Trona or not, we have to post it.
Make an appointment to see this cute cottage style home situated in Trona, CA. Bring your toolbox & ideas to give this one some TLC & make it super nice all over again!! The roof is newer & looks great, fully fenced backyard & huge 2 car detached garage/workshop! This would be perfect as a 2nd home to those who work at the Searles Valley Minerals plant or perhaps used as a rental. This home will be sold as-is seller will NOT perform any repairs.
It is cheap because of the location. You should watch some youtube videos of Trona to understand the location. Bakersfield is the biggest nearby city, but is is 130 miles away.
Couple hundred miles from L.A. Isolated and desolate. Located on dry lake bed where they extract and ship millions of gallons of chemicals yearly. Thats the good things about Trona…
