Family History
Noble Day (1803-1865), a prosperous farmer, lived here with his wife Mahala Smith and children. His brother Warren Day had a house door.
Son Noble Edwin Day served in the US. Civil War, but was charged 40 years later at age 70 with fraud and forgery in attempt to erase a charge of desertion. Apparently, having been charged with desertion in 1863 from the 143rd New York Volunteers, Noble attempted to erase the dishonorable discharge by forging an application in his favor by a physician who had been dead for 20 years at that time.
