Family History

The 1878 Italianate was built by real estate and insurance agent John T. Holme, aka  JT  Holme. Mr. Holme owned the Holme and Hickman Real Estate and Insurance Company. He lived here with his wife, Mary, and children, Frank, John Jr. and Florence.  After Mary died, John Jr., his wife, Luna, and daughters, Harriett and Mary,  lived in the home with John Sr.  Sometime before 1920 John Sr. passed away in the home, and the home was then passed down to John Jr., who was president of Farmers and Merchants Bank.
