The majority of the home was designed and built by N.A. Buckingham & Son Architects, Clarence Buckingham, of Jacksonville, Illinois, in 1897. Buckingham was also the architect of the Nichols Park Pavilion, the Central Park Bandstand, and the Colonial Inn at 1213 W. State in Jacksonville.
