Let’s keep our fingers crossed that when a new buyer eventually gets this affordable Iowa home that they appreciate and respect all of the historic elements that have been untouched for more than a century. Family History
This was the home of William Thomas Wilkinson (1864-1909) and his wife, Elizabeth Patterson Wilkinson (1866-1925). The couple married in 1888 and had three children, Margaret (who sadly passed away at 18 months), William Albert, and Elizabeth. The obituary below describes the Wilkinson couple as “sweethearts from childhood, and their home life was ideal.” I was a big blow for Elizabeth to lose William at the young age of 45, but from numerous newspaper articles in the social pages, she calmed her grief by entertaining family and friends quite often.
Mr. Wilkinson was the ultimate businessman with his fingers in a number of companies, including Wilkinson & Co. Drug Store, Wiklinson Tea Co, Kerfoot Clothing Co., Hall-Ekfelt Furniture Co., and Arnold Jewelry & Music Co.
