Family History

In the 1940s and 1950s, this was the home of Sam and Alice Jacobson.  Sam served in the army during WWI, and Alice enjoyed hosting events in the home for her Amvets Auxiliary. Sam supported the family, which also included a step-daughter,  as an elevator starter. He died in the home in 1957 after a five-year illness.

The Hosier family moved into the home around 1958. A year later a high speed chase killed two innocent drivers including 19-year-old Daniel Hosier and injured three others. It turned out Daniel’s best friend, David Slyter, was the driver of the car the police were chasing. After running a stop sign at high rates of speed, he crashed into Daniel’s car setting it ablaze.
